went and played on the bmx track tonight for a while. It was nasty rough and hard to hold speed. Think i am going to hold off till sat to try a race. Going to practice more sat morning and maybe drop some gear out of the bike. 46:14 is a bit much on a rough track but i was still spinning it up pretty good. We will see how it goes sat morn.

went out on the roadie tonight with some cat3 boys. that was a humbling experience. i figured all the ss'ing this year had gotten me strong, but i was mistaken. 2 guys hammering tempo at the front and me hanging off the back doing everything i can to try and close the gaps. One of the other guys with us is a guy i can drop at will in the dirt. He did a great job hanging with the fast guys and this time was dropping me no problem. Guess it is time to step up the road work and start grinding some milage. I have power and endurance on dirt which to me would seem harder. I forgot that on the roadie the pedals don't stop. very little cruise time, more constant movement....

dang, kinda forgot aboot this thing.

Well the season is over. Ended up 3rd in the series and won the state championship in my class. Not bad for a 40 yr old smoker on a singlespeed. Gotta say it was fun and i am looking forward to next year.

Metro 12 hr is next. My teammate might be backing out, so it may be a solo effort. 12 hours at manawa on a ss. Sounds good to me....

gotta score a cross bike and give that a whirl as well. Seeing my bro stomp butt every year is good incentive to get out there and play with the boys. Now to find an inexpensive ss crosser. Gonna have to do something to keep my rear in shape now that i am going to have to bump up a class next season. Might be time to dust off the roadie and get some miles in this fall...

Gotta quit smoking too. Daughters track coach let me have it. She said that "i was slowing my daughters speed because of second hand smoke." First i don't smoke around my kids, second i kicked ass as a cat 3 roadie back in the day and am still rolling well now. She replied "imagine how fast you'd be without it." Crap. Point taken. Time to give them up....

gotta get the youngest out on the trails more too. She is wanting some more junior medals next year. Said she is going to own that state champ gold medal next year. She probably will. Tough little sucker she is, damn fast too....
